Victorian Youth Mentoring Alliance

The VYMA is an incorporated, non-government, representative organisation of youth mentoring

programs in Victoria. Its members represent the entire spread of youth mentoring programs

operating in Victoria, including community-based programs, school-based programs, and cultural

and faith based programs.

"Evidence suggests that youth mentoring positively impacts on the lives of young people and

mentors. Research claims that young people involved in youth mentoring are less likely to engage

in harmful activities, like crime, drug or alcohol abuse, and are more likely to improve their relationships

with family, peers, and teachers. Young people are likely to improve their academic performance and

develop the resilience to cope with challenges in their lives." (Victorian Youth Mentoring Alliance)
