Parent Engagement Facilitation
With the growing recognition of the importance parents do, can and should have in the career and transition development of their children it has become increasingly obvious that parents need access to relevant up to date information to support them. Parent as Career and Transition Support workshops have been one way that Local Community Partnerships have, over the last couple of years, attempted to get this information out to the community, and a lot of work by various organisations has gone into meeting school and participants needs.
It is now time to use our resources more strategically: we need to reach other cohorts of parents, through other means of communication and on a bigger scale. We also need to maximise the great work that has been produced and tap into the expertise and experiences of others in this field. By sharing what we have developed we can avoid duplication, test new models and add to the body of knowledge that exists. The emergence of a Parent Engagement Facilitator Network that has both Victorian and Tasmanian members will, we are sure, greatly enhance the effectiveness of our actions.
This webpage seeks to provide a electronic forum for information that can support facilitation of Parent Engagement that has a focuses on career decision making and planning, and eventual transition into the world of work. To start the ball rolling and allow members to put faces to other network members there was a real time Parent Engagement Forum in Melbourne on March 2, 2009. View a snapshot of the forum.
