Getting a job in the Australian Public Service  The Australian Government is looking for more Aboriginal and Torres
Strait Islander people to work in the Australian Public Service (APS).This booklet aims to help Indigenous Australians

apply for and get a job in the APS. Not Just a job - a booklet that profiles 19 Indigenous employees talking about

their experiences working in the Australian Public Service.

The Australian Employment Covenant (AEC) -  The Australian Employment Covenant is a private sector initiative lead by Mr Andrew Forrest, the CEOof Fortescue Metals Group. Participating employers agree through the AEC to employ Indigenous people qualified to the training-ready level. The Government’s part of the bargain is to help bridge the training-ready gap and will match employers commitment with appropriate pre employment training.

The members of the steering committee – including Noel Pearson, Warren Mundine and Rod Eddington - will be encouraging every Australian employer to join them in tackling Indigenous unemployment with real jobs.
