VET PD for 2009

A compulsory one day program for all Western Edge VET coordinators and teachers. The aims of the program are to provide information for new VET staff, and review, refresh and share the knowledge of experienced VET Coordinators and teachers. The day will include looking at the current and future industry landscape in the West, organizing quality SWL placements and value adding to VET.

The biannal Australian Construction Equipment Expo will be held at Sandown Park 26 – 28 February 2009. This trade show provides a great opportunity for careers advisors and teachers to attend the Careers Forum on Friday 27th. Presentations include careers in the civil construction industry such as working as a service technician or operator, and the technology involved in civil construction.
Participants at the 2007 ACE Expo Careers Forum indicated that they found it extremely informative and were able to make valuable contacts with industry. More details about Forum Construction Equipment Expo details

The Schools First Program was featured in the Western LCP Industry Engagement Forum in Novemeber 2008. These workshops provide more information about how Schools First works, the awards criteria and the way the awards are structured. They also provide community and school participants with practical guidance on how to create successful school and community partnerships and strengthen existing ones. More details
Kangan Batman TAFE will be conducting a series
of secondary school visits over the coming
months to provide students with up-to-date
information on career pathways and the range of
courses.
Each hour-long session will feature up to five
experienced Kangan Batman TAFE teachers who
will deliver presentations on their various fields of
expertise. Students can select the area of
study which interests them most, and learn about
the different pathways and courses which can
help them achieve their career ambitions.

Schools First is a new initiative that is about improving outcomes for young people.
At its heart, Schools First is about bringing together students, teachers, parents and community members, to support each other and help improve student outcomes.

The discipline of Laboratory Medicine at RMIT University, in collaboration with the medical diagnostic and research laboratories has arranged a series of laboratory visits in metropolitan and regional Victoria for VCE students, between 6th – 9th July 2009.
